FBI NOTES THIRD ANNIVERSARY OF BOMBING AT ISLAMIC ASSOCIATION OF CINCINNATI

 

Keith L. Bennett, Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the Cincinnati Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) notes that December 20, 2008 is the third anniversary of the bombing at the Islamic Association of Cincinnati (IAC) facilities at 3668 Clifton Avenue, Cincinnati. Two pipe bombs were exploded outside of the mosque and the offices of the IAC. To date there have been no charges filed in this matter. SAC Bennett notes that this crime was an attack on one of America’s most cherished freedoms: Freedom of Religion. As a society we can not tolerate those who would use violence to intimidate others in the practice of a religious faith. We should all reject such acts and do all that we can to prevent their recurrence and bring to justice those who would commit them.

This case remains an open investigation for the FBI. Along with the Cincinnati Police Department, Cincinnati Fire Department, Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives, and other members of the Cincinnati Joint Terrorism Task Force. SAC Bennett noted that the FBI continues to offer a $15,000 reward for information which leads to the conviction of any individual involved in this crime.
