TWO RECEIVE FBI AWARDS
Keith L. Bennett, Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the Cincinnati Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announces that Anthony M. Delgado and Linda Y. Bunthoff have been named to receive the 2007 FBI Director's Community Leadership Award for the Cincinnati Division. The award will be presented posthumously to Mr. Delgado's family on Thursday December 13, 2007, at 1:30 pm at the Columbus FBI Office. The award will be presented to Ms. Bunthoff on Friday December 14, 2007 at 11:45 am at Summit Behavioral Healthcare in Cincinnati.
Mr. Delgado was a contributing author for the book, Gangs and Law Enforcement, released October 4, 2007. Mr. Delgado wrote the Chapter Gangs and Prisons.
Mr. Delgado began his career with the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections in 1992 as a Corrections Officer. He reached the position of Major in 2001 after moving through the custody ranks at four different state correctional facilities. In 2002 he became a Security Threat Group Investigation Coordinator for the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction. Throughout his career he studied gangs and began teaching threat groups for the department and a course for a college law enforcement program.
Ms. Bunthoff is a 2006 graduate of the Cincinnati FBI Citizens' Academy. She is a co-founder of the Gang Initiative Project , a project of the FBI Citizens' Academy Alumni Foundation. In May of this year she was elected to the Board of Directors of the FBI Citizens' Academy Alumni Foundation.
Ms. Bunthoff has worked tirelessly to provide guidance and support for the Gang Initiative Project and the Citizens' Academy Foundation.
SAC Bennett stated that Mr. Delgado and Ms. Bunthoff exemplify the model role for a citizen's interaction with law enforcement - first by better understanding the role law enforcement plays in the community and second by educating others on that role and what part they can play in making our communities safer.
