HARRISON TOWNSHIP MAN ARRESTED ON CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CHARGES
Keith L. Bennett, Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the Cincinnati Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), announced the arrest of Clifton B. Cole, age 42, of Harrison Township, Ohio. Cole was arrested this morning without incident at his residence by FBI agents, assisted by Montgomery County Sheriff's Deputies. Cole has been charged in a federal complaint filed in the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Ohio, with violating Title 18, U.S. Code, Section 2252(a)(4)(B) - Possession of Child Pornography. Violation of the statute is punishable by imprisonment of up to ten years.
The federal complaint alleges that Cole downloaded images and videos of children engaged in pornographic acts from the internet.
Cole received an initial appearance at the U.S. District Courthouse in Dayton before U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael R. Merz. The magistrate ordered Cole be jailed until a bond hearing scheduled for Thursday.
SAC Bennett thanked the members of the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office who assisted in this arrest. SAC Bennett also noted that this arrest demonstrates the FBI's resolve to do everything possible to combat the growing problem of the sexual exploitation of minors in our country.
The public is reminded that criminal complaints contain only allegations of criminal misconduct and that a defendant is presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
