WEST CARROLLTON MAN ARRESTED ON CHARGES OF POSSESSION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

Timothy P. Murphy, Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the Cincinnati Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), announced the arrest of James Kevin Brown, age 50, who resides on Gawain Circle in West Carrollton, Ohio. Brown was arrested at his residence without incident by FBI agents at approximately 11:00 am this morning. Brown has been charged in a federal complaint filed in the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Ohio, Dayton with violating Title 18, U.S. Code, Section 2252A - Possession of Child Pornography. Violation of the statute is punishable by imprisonment of up to 20 years.

Brown will receive an initial appearance at the U.S. District Courthouse in Dayton before a U.S. Magistrate Judge this afternoon. The magistrate will determine whether Brown will remain in custody.

SAC Murphy noted that this arrest demonstrates the FBI's resolve to do everything possible to combat the growing problem of the possession of sexually explicit images of minors in our country.

The public is reminded that criminal complaints contain only allegations of criminal misconduct and that a defendant is presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
