MICHIGAN FUGITIVE ARRESTED AFTER FOOT PURSUIT

Timothy P. Murphy, Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Cincinnati Division, and Sheriff Simon L. Leis, Jr., Hamilton County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) , announced that Terry Delane Hamilton, Jr., age 24, of Grand Rapids Michigan was arrested by FBI agents and Hamilton County Sheriff's Deputies this afternoon after a foot pursuit in the Walden Glen Circle Area of Cincinnati.

Hamilton has been charged in a federal complaint at Grand Rapids, Michigan with Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution and with Michigan state charges of Being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm. The charges arise out of an alleged discharge of a firearm by Hamilton in the direction of Grand Rapids Police Officers in 2006.

A joint surveillance involving FBI agents and Hamilton County Sheriff's Deputies resulted in Hamilton being observed approximately 1:00pm. Hamilton ignored an order to stop and fled on foot. He was apprehended after a brief foot pursuit.

Hamilton will receive an initial appearance at the U.S. Courthouse in Magistrate's Court this afternoon or tomorrow morning. At that time a U.S. Magistrate Judge will determine if Hamilton should remain jailed pending additional judicial proceedings.

Both SAC Murphy and Sheriff Leis praised the cooperative nature of the investigation which led to Hamilton's arrest.

The public is reminded that criminal complaints are mere allegations of criminal conduct and that subjects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
