CREDIT UNION AND CONVENIENCE STORE ROBBER RECEIVES 11-YEAR SENTENCE

DAYTON – Rondale Lynch, age 21, of Dayton, was sentenced in United States District Court here today to four years imprisonment for robbing a Dayton convenience store one day and a credit union the next day. He was also sentenced to a mandatory seven-year consecutive sentence for brandishing firearms during the robbery for a total of 11 years behind bars.

Gregory G. Lockhart, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio, Keith L. Bennett, Special Agent in Charge, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Cincinnati Field Division, and Dayton Police Chief Richard Biehl announced the sentence handed down today by United States District Judge Thomas M. Rose.

Lynch pleaded guilty on June 6, 2008 to the robberies. Lynch admitted that on January 21, 2008, he and an accomplice entered the "Circle K" convenience store located at 1918 E. Fifth St., Dayton, in order to rob it. Both men were armed and brandished the firearms at the store employee.

On January 22, 2008, Defendant and J.M. entered the "Wright-Patt Credit Union" located at 521 Xenia Avenue, again brandishing firearms, and robbed it of cash.

Dayton Police officers arrested Lynch on January 22 after they pulled over a car in which Lynch was a passenger and noticed him wearing a jacket that matched the description of one worn by the credit union robber. He has been in custody since his arrest.

Lockhart commended the cooperative investigation by Dayton Police officers and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force agents, along with the Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew Hunt, who prosecuted the case.
