DAYTON – Marcus Holt, age 23 of Dayton, was sentenced in United States District Court here today to ten years imprisonment for his role in the January 11, 2008 robbery of the Fifth Third Bank in Trotwood.
Gregory G. Lockhart, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio, Keith L. Bennett, Special Agent in Charge, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Cincinnati Field Division, and Acting Trotwood Police Chief Quincy Pope announced the sentence which was handed down by United States District Judge Walter H. Rice.
Judge Rice also sentenced Holt to pay $13,565.02 in restitution to the Trotwood Police Department for damage to police vehicles that occurred when Holt was arrested.
Holt and McDougal entered the bank shortly after 3 p.m. with Holt brandishing two loaded handguns. McDougal jumped over the counter and took money from teller drawers. Holt grabbed currency on the counter in front of a customer. Both then fled the bank on foot.
Trotwood Police stopped Holt and recovered the stolen money in a vehicle after a chase through a nearby residential neighborhood. Holt’s accomplice, Damien McDougal, was arrested later that day.
Holt and McDougal have been in custody since their arrests. Holt pleaded guilty on March 20, 2008 to one count of armed bank robbery and one count of brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence.
McDougal pleaded guilty on May 7. His sentencing is set for August 7, 2008.
Lockhart also commended the efforts of the Trotwood Police officers and FBI agents for their investigation into the case, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Laura Clemmens who prosecuted the cases.
