DAYTON – Charles Evans, age 62, of Dayton, pleaded guilty in United States District Court here today to one count of Possession of Child Pornography.
Gregory G. Lockhart, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio, and Keith L. Bennett, Special Agent in Charge, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Cincinnati Field Division, announced the plea entered today before United States District Judge Thomas M. Rose.
According to a statement of facts filed with Evans’ plea agreement, he knowingly possessed at least 600 images containing visual depictions of actual children under the age of 18, including prepubescent minors, engaged in sexually explicit conduct. Evans had downloaded the images from the Internet and stored them on his home and work computers.
The statutory maximum sentence the Court can impose is ten years imprisonment, up to a lifetime period of supervised release, and a fine of $250,000.
Judge Rose scheduled Evans’ sentencing hearing for May 2, 2008.
Lockhart commended the investigation by agents of the FBI and Assistant U.S. Attorney Brent Tabacchi, who is prosecuting the case.
