AKRON MAN SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS IN HUBER HEIGHTS BANK ROBBER

DAYTON, OHIO—An Akron man was sentenced here for holding up the Wright-Patt Credit Union in Huber Heights. Juackine Wilson, age 37, robbed the credit union on Old Troy Pike on August 25, 2003 and will serve 10 years in prison for the crime.

Gregory Lockhart, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio, Keith Bennett, Special Agent in Charge, Federal Bureau of Investigations, Chief James Borland, Huber Heights Police Department, announced the sentence handed down by U.S. District Court Judge Thomas Rose on Friday. Judgment was entered today. Wilson pled guilty in August to one count of bank robbery, after he committed the 2003 crime by demanding that the teller empty both of her cash drawers. No weapon was displayed during the heist.

In November, 2003, Huber Heights Police and FBI agents discovered Wilson’s involvement in the robbery after receiving a tip in the case. Wilson was also the suspect in a heist at the same bank in July, 2003. He has been in custody on state charges since his arrest in 2003. In addition to his 10 year sentence, Wilson has been ordered to pay restitution to Wright-Patt Credit Union and will serve 3 years of supervised release after he completes his 10-year prison term.

Lockhart commended the efforts of the Huber Heights Police Department and FBI for their investigation into this case, along with Assistant U.S. Attorneys, Sheila Lafferty and Brent Tabacchi, who prosecuted the case.
